KH-001 delays para-chloroamphetamine-induced ejaculation in anaesthetized rat.

Premature ejaculation remains a frequent male sexual dysfunction with limited therapeutic options. A recently published study involving Pelvipharm evaluated KH-001, a novel treatment candidate, in a rat model of para-chloroamphetamine-induced ejaculation.

In this model, efficacy was assessed using objective functional endpoints, including latency to ejaculation, proportion of animals ejaculating, seminal vesicle pressure and bulbospongiosus muscle electromyographic activity.

Acute administration of KH-001 increased latency to ejaculation in a dose-dependent manner. The physiological readouts also provided insight into the components of the ejaculatory response affected by treatment.

This study illustrates the value of functional preclinical models in identifying pharmacological activity and supporting the early development of new therapeutic approaches for premature ejaculation.

Pelvipharm supports drug developers working in male sexual dysfunction through tailored efficacy studies, dose-response evaluation and complementary mechanistic or PK/PD investigations.
